The streets of Monte-Carlo are where Leclerc grew up, and after years of misfortune at his home circuit, everything came together for this home win.
Charles Leclerc is an incredibly popular driver, and he’s been at Ferrari since 2019 where he’s consistently shown why he’s their no.1 driver. Despite the Monegasque’s surreal pace on his home circuit, and his multiple race wins – for one reason or another the win has illuded him. In 2019 the team made a big mistake in qualifying, 2020 was cancelled, 2021 he got pole but the car was severely damaged in qualifying and wasn’t fixed in time, 2022 the team made a strategy error & in 2023 he received a penalty for impeding in qualifying that killed any hopes for a win.
None of that matters now. Charles Leclerc took his Ferrari to the race win around his home circuit in 2024. Finally, the ‘curse’ has been broken, and Charles has achieved one of his dreams.
A moment like this deserves to be remembered, it’ll certainly never be forgotten by Leclerc. The driver even said during interviews that in the final few laps he couldn’t see properly because his eyes had started welling up.
